As from July 2006 the law changed regarding imports. Most people will be aware of this but for those who aren't here is a brief description of the new law.

All vehicles now must go through an ESVA (enhanced single vehicle approval) basically this is a test

similar to an mot but more strict. This test has always been here but before people were getting

their vehicle tested as disabled. Since 1st July 2004 the law changed and every vehicle including disabled vehicles need an ESVA. At the same time it has been enforced that any vehicle manufactured from 1997 onwards requires a model report.

where does that leave us?

The test is pretty much the same as an SVA but the changes are as follows...

any vehicle with modification i.e.: wheels, exhaust, air filter, bodykit etc has to be put back to standard before the test. This means for us to supply a vehicle from Japan it must be standard or as near as dam it.

Vehicles manufactured in 1997 or onwards are needing a 'Model Report' this is an extra cost and there are not many model reports available for Japanese Imports. This is causing a big problem as we and other Importers are unable to bring certain cars into the UK.
